A representative for the 28-time Grammy winner told TMZ the music producer had a bad reaction to some food he ate and called an ambulance out of an abundance of caution Saturday afternoon.

Doctors gave Quincy the all-clear, and he was released.

Quincy Jones, Jr was born in 1934 on the South Side of Chicago and began playing music at an early age.

The natural musician began playing trumpet and arranging music in high school.

After earning scholarships to Seattle University and later the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, he left his studies for some real-life tutelage on the road with band leader Lionel Hampton, where he continued to arrange music.

He later moved to New York where he worked with music greats Sarah Vaughn, Dinah Washington, Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Frank Sinatra and more.

That work landed him a job a Mercury Records, where in 1961 he was promoted to Vice-President, making him the first African-American to hold that position.

In 1980, he founded his own Qwest Records as a joint venture with Warner Bros Records.

The tireless musician has been working in film since 1965 and has several movie projects in the works, including the new The Color Purple musical, starring The Little Mermaid star Halle Bailey, Fantasia Barrino and Taraji P Henson. The film is set to open Christmas day.

He is listed as a producer, alongside Steven Spielberg and Oprah Winfrey.

Quincy wrote the music and was a producer on the original 1985 Oscar nominated film that starred Whoopie Goldberg as Celie, and Oprah in her first ever film role.

The talk show legend received an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress for her portrayal of the feisty Sophia.

Steven Spielberg directed the drama, which also received an Oscar nomination for Best Picture.

The 12 Notes: On Life & Creativity author has also composed the soundtrack for the upcoming Lola James, written, directed and starring Nicola Peltz Beckham, 28.
