A cyclist has sadly died during an annual bike ride between London and the seaside town of Brighton.

The British Heart Foundation (BHF), who organises the ride, confirmed the news earlier today, offering condolences to their family and friends.

They died in the Smallfield area, a small village in London's commuter belt, thought the cause of death hasn't been revealed.

Charmaine Griffiths, chief executive of the BHF, said: "Our deepest sympathies are with the rider's loved ones."

She added that their next of kin have been told and an investigation has been launched.
