Jim Ross has apologized to fans for his performance on tonight's Collision premiere and revealed that he will be stepping away to heal.
The wrestling veteran took on his Twitter after tonight's show to make the announcement. This comes after several fans noted how JR did not sound like himself on commentary and voiced concerns about his health on social media:
While not confirmed, his health is believed to be related to the injury he suffered on Saturday. Ross had suffered another nasty fall the day before the Collision premiere. He posted photos of the black eye he sustained from the fall but noted that he would not miss the show tonight.
AEW had kept the details of Collision commentary team a secret up until this week. They announced only a couple days ago that Kevin Kelly and Nigel McGuinness will be doing the play-by-play for the show with JR providing an "expert analysis."
As of this writing, it's unknown if AEW will add another member to the commentary team in the absence of Jim Ross or they will move forward with a two-men booth instead. The length of JR's absence from AEW programming is also not known.
Apart from JR, the Collision premiere featured stars such as CM Punk, Andrade, FTR, Samoa Joe and more. You can check out the full results for the event here.
