The NFL community lost a legend this week. Pro Football Hall of Famer Bob Brown passed away Friday at the age of 81.

Brown's wife, Cecelia, said he passed away peacefully at a rehabilitation center. He was admitted to the center in April after suffering a stroke.

Brown played college football at Nebraska before becoming a game-changing offensive lineman in the NFL. After spending the first five seasons of his pro career with the Eagles, he spent multiple years on the Rams and Raiders.

Moments ago, Hall of Fame president Jim Porter released a heartfelt statement on Brown's legacy.

"Bob Brown demonstrated different personalities on and off the field," Porter said. "On the field, he was as fierce an opponent as any defensive linemen or linebacker ever faced. He used every tactic and technique - and sometimes brute force - to crush the will of the person across the line from him. And took great pride in doing so."Yet off the field, he demonstrated a quiet, soft-spoken and caring nature that his son, Robert Jr., captured eloquently when he presented his dad for enshrinement in 2004."

Overall, Brown finished his pro career as a six-time Pro Bowler and nine-time All-Pro offensive lineman.

In addition to making the Pro Football Hall of Fame, Brown had his No. 64 jersey retired by Nebraska.

Our thoughts are with the Brown family at this time.
