Updated June 17, 2023 by Matthew Mckeown: There's nothing more satisfying than spinning off a few rounds from various firearms in first person while waving your arms around. Though doing so at a gun range would see you tackled by security fast, in VR games you can gun-kata your way around your living room guilt-free.

There have been many great VR games that have come out, especially for the PSVR. Like any genre, it can be a bit hit-and-miss, but there are some gems if you know where to look that can make you feel like a real action hero. To help you get your gun off, here are some more of the best PSVR FPS games out now.

Become a one-person army in this exciting adventure from nDreams. Stuck in a remote mountain-top research site, you're the only thing standing between an army of interdimensional nightmares and the world. Ski, climb, and dive to cover as you blast your way through the heavily-armed forces standing in your way.

There are some great set-piece fights, including some base jumps and vertigo-inducing climbs, a nice selection of weaponry, and plenty of style as you tear apart your foes. It's pretty cheap to pick up and it's single-player only, so no multiplayer sadly. But it's understandable considering how hectic and fast-paced some sections can become.

If you've ever tired of looking at the back of Agent 47's head or fancied yourself a better shot with his pistols than the master assassin himself, then Hitman 3 VR is for you. It's just the full game, but this time it's in virtual reality. So you can sneak around halls in first-person, try your best to blend in or go full John Wick with your biggest guns in this iconic assassination series.

Play through your favorite missions from a different perspective and see if you can be a better master of murder than the red-tie-wearing man himself. The resolution translates over pretty well on consoles and the controller mapping is easy enough that you won't forget which option does what in a moment of panic or whilst under a hail of gunfire from alerted security teams.

Strap your headset on and step back into this classic looter shooter from Gearbox. Arguably the best game in the series, Borderlands 2 set you loose on the vast and deadly plains and ramshackle burgs of everyone's favorite planet, Pandora.

Full of deadly wildlife, psychotic bandits, big battle bots and so much more, there were plenty of targets to keep your itchy trigger finger active. Now you can run through it all again, but this time in VR. Classes remain the same so you can load up your favorite builds or try someone new from a different perspective as you blast around the wastelands harassing the local Skag population.

For those that like their realistic shooters and the satisfying kerchunk of a tactical reload, then Gun Club VR should be firmly in your sights. This simple VR FPS game presents you with your own personal gun range where you can tinker and toy around with all sorts of diverse weaponry.

From small handguns to higher caliber automatics, bolt-action rifles, and even big heavy MGs, there's enough here to keep any gun nut extremely happy. Outside of the range though, there's also a collection of missions, modes, and challenges to try. Plus, you can even build your own target setup if you want to practice shooting a particular type of target.

Everyone at some point has experienced Space Pirate Trainer. It's a classic first-person shooter VR game that came out back in 2017 and its developer I-Illusions did a lot of great work with it. Featuring a stylish sci-fi setting and a sprawling vista of the earth below, there's a lot of eye candy in this simple virtual reality shooter.

The goal of the game is simple, blast the space pirates. Your weapons at hand are pretty powerful, but it all comes down to how well you can aim and how nimble your dodges are. It doesn't take long for the air to fill with missiles and energy rounds, so keep on your toes and never take your eye off those enemy droids.

Raw Data is set hundreds of years in the future, and has a cool sci-fi vibe. Like most VR games, you'll use your hands to control everything you do, most notably aiming and shooting your guns and other weapons, which is a lot of fun considering how fast-paced Raw Data actually is.

The story in Raw Data is quite unique in its own right. You're part of a hacker group that has one goal - steal data from Eden Corp, the primary antagonist in this thrilling adventure. If you like fast-paced combat, then Raw Data will quench your thirst for action.

Out Of Ammo may be the most unique first-person shooter that you can play on the PSVR. What makes this game so special is that it's a strategy game where you can take control of individual units. Running around the battlefield, you're capable of commanding your troops to fight for you, giving them orders as you see fit.

Your soldiers will have to survive against waves of enemies, which can become quite challenging after multiple battles. As previously mentioned, you can even head into the fight by equipping a gun and hiding behind cover, fighting the soldiers directly in first-person virtual reality.

Mortal Blitz is one of the most engaging FPS games available on any virtual reality platform. You can equip two guns at once, dual-wielding one for each of your controllers. Using your guns, you'll fight many virtual battles where movement is key, so you'll have a workout on your hands every time you play Mortal Blitz.

You can even use psychokinetic powers to interact with objects you find around the world, which adds a unique edge over other VR first-person shooters. If you want to try a VR FPS where dual-wielding guns are an option, then Mortal Blitz was made with you in mind.

Blasters Of The Universe is worth playing if you enjoy games like Superhot, because you'll need to dodge bullets that are flying at you in mid-air if you want to survive. The primary content you'll experience in this game is the campaign mode, which allows you to unlock new items to use in combat as you progress.

There are hundreds of ways to customize your personal loadout, which adds hours of extra fun finding every way you can defeat the futuristic enemies you'll face in Blasters Of The Universe. Dodging bullets has never been this much fun.

If you like adventures that take place in space, then we have the perfect suggestion for you. Farpoint crashes you onto an unknown planet, where you'll have to attempt to make your way back to your fellow workers who also crashed somewhere else on this strange planet.

You'll encounter alien life forms, which you can kill using your guns in first-person combat. Your gun will be essential if you want to make it off the planet alive, so the FPS mechanics in Farpoint are integral to its gameplay design. Virtual reality doesn't get more out of this world than Farpoint.

Sniper Elite has always been a series that demands attention because of its advanced gunplay and unique focus on sniper rifles. However, you can now equip a VR headset and jump straight into the action in an even more lifelike Sniper Elite experience.

Sniper Elite VR takes place in Italy in the mid-1900s, so it even has a setting that stands out among other VR shooters. Over the course of the campaign, you'll get to complete 18 exciting missions, so pick up your rifle and get ready for an adventure.

The Walking Dead has become one of the biggest franchises ever in the last decade, so it's not too surprising that numerous games about it exist. However, none have been more immersive than The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners because it allows you to enter a virtual reality headset to get up close and personal with terrifying zombies.

You can complete missions and craft new items by scavenging in the various open-world areas. The zombies act similarly to how they do in the TV show, so you can expect slow-moving enemies that can easily send you to your grave if you get overwhelmed by many of them at once. The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners is one of the best zombies games on the PSVR.

Until Dawn: Rush Of Blood is one of the most unique horror games ever, so it's a treat that it's available on the PSVR headset. In Rush Of Blood, you travel along a roller coaster track and shoot at enemies as they come, but there are terrifying monsters waiting for you in the darkness.

If you're interested in visiting a virtual amusement park, then this may scratch that itch as well since the roller coaster includes some fast-paced turns. Combining first-person shooting mechanics with a VR roller coaster is one of the best ideas for a video game ever.

Superhot VR is unique for a plethora of reasons, but the primary mechanic that makes it stand out is its slow-motion feature. While fighting enemies, time will slow, which gives you a chance to dodge their incoming bullets and hit them with your weapon.

Playing Superhot VR feels almost as if you're in an action movie, so it's one of the best experiences you can have inside virtual reality. There's a campaign for you to complete in Superhot VR, and it's a great game to speed-run.

Arizona Sunshine is another great zombie game, but it has an original concept. You get to battle hordes of zombies in the Grand Canyon while the hot sun shines above you. The idea to set a zombie game in a canyon is a fun one due to the unique environment that isn't common in other video games.

Choose from many guns while you fight your way through the horde and complete Arizona Sunshine's campaign. You can even connect with a friend and join forces to form a zombie-fighting team.

After The Fall shares its developer with Arizona Sunshine, so you can expect even more zombie-fighting action. However, you won't be traveling to the Grand Canyon this time; instead, the game drops you into a freezing environment filled with frozen undead enemies.

If you enjoyed Arizona Sunshine or just like zombie games in general, then After The Fall is the perfect game that'll have you excited for what's around the corner. Multiplayer is available in After The Fall, so you can join forces with three other players to survive the undead hordes with your friends.

Blood & Truth has one of the most interesting stories on the PSVR headset, and its gunplay is a lot of fun. Throughout the campaign, you'll use multiple guns and travel through a variety of environments while occasionally even riding inside vehicles.

Other than its well-designed gameplay and story, what makes Blood & Truth stand out is the variety of levels that occur within its campaign. Climbing up structures, high-speed car chases, and jumping into moving planes are just a few of the exciting events you can expect from Blood & Truth.

Doom 3: VR Edition takes everything you love about Doom 3 and places it into a VR headset. The fast-paced combat of Doom is something that isn't present in most VR games, so Doom 3 allows you to experience it in the most immersive way possible.

Pistol Whip is different from the average FPS, but it's still a great game that every VR player should try. With a gun in your hand, you have to shoot enemies as they pass you while listening to music. Similar to experiences like Beat Saber, Pistol Whip is a rhythm game.

You can choose from a plethora of songs while you defeat the enemies that appear in the background. If you enjoy FPS games and love music, then Pistol Whip is a game that you'll never get tired of playing.

There aren't many games on the PSVR where you can get a first-person multiplayer experience, so Firewall Zero Hour fills a very important role on the headset. Firewall Zero Hour features online tactical gameplay, similar to the FPS game Rainbow Six Siege.

You can join up with other players around the world and go head-to-head with a team of enemy players for an engaging close-quarters match. Firewall Zero Hour is one of the best FPS games on the PSVR, and every VR player should try it, especially if they enjoy shooters.
