Dragon's Dogma Fans Are Arguing Over Co-Op

Capcom has been absolutely crushing it lately with the releases of Resident Evil 4 Remake and Street Fighter 6. It's feels as though the company can do no wrong at the moment, as it's even been announcing several other promising looking titles that are scheduled for release in the not too distant future. One of these games is Dragon's Dogma 2, a trailer for which popped up during its recent Capcom Showcase.

While the majority of fans are pretty happy about how it's shaping up so far, a war is currently being waged in the game's subreddit, as many are pointing out how strange it is that Dragon's Dogma 2 advertised it's party system as an experience that feels like you're playing co-op. Fopr those unaware, Dragon's Dogma 2 will build upon the original game's pawn system, which allows you to choose from a selection of characters built by other people to make up your band of heroes.

It's kinf od like co-op, but the people who made your pawns won't be controlling them, instead being controlled by a complex AI system. This is what Dragon's Dogma fans have been arguying about, with some stating that Capcom should be implmeneting a functioning co-op system if it already going that far, while others are arguing the series is better off a single player experience.

You don't have to look very far down the subreddit to find a discussion about co-op, with some of them locked by moderators due to things getting a bit heated. Some are arguing that the pawn system is better because it means Dragon's Dogma 2 will keep functioning as intended even when the majority of players move on, while others don't understand why it has to be one or other, and think Capcom should implement both into Dragon's Dogma 2 to appease everyone.

Then there are those that think the bickering is ridiculous and that everyone should just be excited that we're getting a Dragon's Dogma 2 in the first place. The general consensus appears to be that Dragon's Dogma 2 might lose a bit of its unique feel if Capcom were to cut out the pawn system in favor of co-op, but there are plenty with differing opinions, and boy are they making them known as loud as they can.

Hopefully, we'll get some more info soon so Dragon's Dogma fans can move onto something else, though we still don't have a release date for the game just yet. It's possible we could see it launch in 2024, especially with how far along it looked in its latest trailer, so let's hope that fans of the games don't tear each others' throats out before then.
