Chelsea perceive Manchester United as a bigger threat to their pursuit of Moises Caicedo than Arsenal, according to a report.

The future of Caicedo is one of the most intriguing potential transfer moves this summer. Indeed, that's largely due to the fact Brighton have successfully kept the star under lock and key so far.

After just half of the season, following a handful of Premier League appearances the prior campaign, the midfielder became a target for some big sides.

Chelsea and Arsenal were the main names, with the Gunners seemingly desperate to add to their side to prolong their title push.

Indeed, Mikel Arteta's side lodged two bids for Caicedo - the first of £60million, with an improved £70million offer following it, but both were shut down by Brighton.

Arsenal's title push eventually went up in flames, but their interest in the Seagulls man has remained.

Indeed, they're in the mix for the midfielder, along with Chelsea, who have also stayed on his tail. It's Arsenal who are apparently leading from the Blues at the moment.

Indeed, the lure of Champions League football is apparently an eye-catching one for Caicedo.

However, the Gunners won't want to count their chickens just yet. The Athletic suggests firstly that it's Chelsea who are in the stronger position, and they 'could well make' a move for the midfielder 'if they generate enough from midfield outgoings'.

Arsenal interest is mentioned, but both sides could see their pursuits destroyed. Indeed, the report states Man Utd are 'perceived to be a bigger threat' than any side for Chelsea in the pursuit.

They've seemingly burst onto the scene for the Brighton star.

Indeed, Erik ten Hag's side have hardly been mentioned in reference to the future of Caicedo, but now seem to be dangerously looming over the other sides.

Having been under the radar, it would be a massive statement if United could push past both Chelsea and Arsenal in order to sign the star.

He'd be fantastic addition to a midfield corps including Christian Eriksen, Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes.

The pursuit of Declan Rice is also referenced in the report. Chelsea interest is mentioned, though it's stated he's 'much likelier' to go to Arsenal than return to Stamford Bridge.

With that being said, the Gunners might not mind too much if they lose out on Caicedo.

While adding both would give them an extra push that could help them catch up to Manchester City next season, signing just Rice would also up the level of their midfield.

They should then still be a better side than the already very competitive outfit they were this season as a result.
