The Academy Award-winner died "peacefully" at home surrounded by family, her agent said Thursday
Oscar-winning actress Glenda Jackson has died at the age of 87.
Jackson's agent confirmed her death in a statement, Thursday, reported the BBC.
"Glenda Jackson, two-time Academy Award-winning actress and politician, died peacefully at her home in Blackheath, London this morning after a brief illness with her family at her side," the statement read.
The actress's rep said she had recently completed filming the movie The Great Escaper alongside Michael Caine, added the BBC.
Jackson - who was born in Cheshire, England in 1936 - won two Academy Awards in the 1970s for Women In Love and A Touch Of Class before she stepped back from acting to focus on politics in the U.K. She later became a member of parliament (MP) for Hampstead and Highgate in London in 1992.
She is survived by a son and grandson, the BBC reported.
