Jay Monahan's name is once again in the headlines. This time, it has nothing to do with the pending merger of the PGA Tour and LIV Golf.

It was announced on Tuesday that the PGA Tour commissioner would be absent from the tour after dealing with a "medical situation."

No timetable was given for his return.

So, what happened to Monahan and when can golf fans expect him to return to the forefront of the PGA Tour and LIV Golf world? Here's what to know about the PGA Tour commissioner's absence and who will be replacing him in the interim.

On Tuesday, the PGA Tour's Policy Board announced in a joint statement with Monahan that the governing body's commissioner was "recuperating from a medical situation."

Neither Monahan nor the PGA Tour provided any details about what the medical situation entailed but said that they would "provide further updates as appropriate."

"The Board fully supports Jay and appreciates everyone respective his privacy," the statement read, in part.

Ron Price and Tyler Dennis are expected to lead the day-to-day operations of the PGA Tour in Monahan's stead, as the tour announced. Price is currently serving as the tour's chief operating officer while Dennis is listed as the executive vice president and president of the PGA Tour.

Monahan had recently made headlines after brokering a deal with the Saudi-backed Public Investment Fund (PIF) to effectively merge with the PGA Tour. That will make the PGA Tour and LIV Golf part of the same entity.

The deal was met with backlash from the PGA Tour players, who were blindsided by it. Some even called for Monahan's resignation as part of a contentious meeting ahead of the Canadian Open.

More details will be provided about Monahan's condition as they become available.

Ron Price is the chief operating officer for the PGA Tour. He will be stepping into a larger role in the tour's day-to-day operations during Monahan's absence.

Price has been working for the PGA Tour since 1994, when he joined the company as its senior vice president of finance and administration, according to TPC.com. The website also outlined that he "works closely with Commissioner Monahan on the overall strategy and operations of the PGA TOUR. In this role, he also has direct oversight of Championship Management, THE PLAYERS Championship, The Presidents Cup, Communications/Media Relations, Golf Course Properties, Retail Licensing, Finance, People Strategy, Board Governance and Government Relations."

Price graduated from Alabama in 1978 and prior to joining the PGA Tour was a partner at Ernst & Young. He is a Certified Public Accountant and is a member of the American and Florida Institutes of CPAs.

Tyler Dennis is the executive vice president and president of the PGA Tour. He will join Price in stepping into a larger role in the tour's day-to-day operations as Monahan deals with his medical situation.

There isn't as much biographical information available on Dennis as there is Price, but his headshot is included on the executive leadership page of the PGA Tour's website.
