Former Texas Tech head coach/quarterback Kliff Kingsbury will headline this year's inductees into Texas Tech's Hall of Fame & Hall of Honor, the school announced.
Kingsbury will enter the school's Hall of Fame alongside late college football coach Mike Leach.
Kingsbury led the Red Raiders program as head coach from 2013-18, collecting a 35-40 overall record. In his first season with the team, the then-33-year-old head coach led the program to an 8-5 record and a Holiday Bowl victory.
If this record doesn't seem like it deserves Hall-of-Fame honors, you're right. Kingsbury is actually getting inducted as part of the athletes class. The former quarterback played four seasons with the Red Raiders from 1999-2002, recording 12,429 yards, 95 touchdowns and 40 interceptions.
Kingsbury was fired after the 2018 season, but accepted a head coaching job with the NFL's Arizona Cardinals soon after. He was fired by the Cardinals after this past season, and is now a senior offensive analyst for the USC Trojans.
This year's class will be honored in a ceremony on Sept. 29 and on the field when the team plays Houston on Sep. 30.
