One of the developers of Fable 4 has taken to Twitter to assure people that the game does look as good as the trailers make it out to be. The long-awaited Fable opened the Xbox Games Showcase a few days ago and wowed fans with its in-game appearance that showcased the game's new look.

The Fable series has been a mainstay for Microsoft since the original Xbox and was developed by Lionhead Studios, which was eventually shuttered in 2016. Since 2004, the RPG series has seen three mainline entries and a handful of spin-offs, but the series fell into dormancy in 2014 after a remake of the first game, Fable Anniversary released for Xbox 360. In 2020, Microsoft announced that Playground Games will be handling the next entry into the series.

After the Xbox Games Showcase, Lucas Koelz, a lighting artist working for Playground Games tweeted that people who don't believe that Fable won't look as good as the trailers make it out to be is one of the best compliments he could get. The post accompanies various screenshots captured in-game that showcase the visuals of the game, including Dave the Giant, a foe that folks have seen in the latest trailer for the fantasy RPG.

In response to the tweet, a lot of fans are excited about the return of Microsoft's exclusive RPG series, with replies praising the hard work the team is putting into the game. The positive comments are in stark contrast to what is being seen on YouTube where the latest Fable 4 trailer is saturated with dislikes. The reasons for this are vague, but a few of the comments allude to the protagonist's looks being one of the potential causes of this.

While Microsoft confirmed first-party games didn't use CGI in their trailers during the showcase, it is worth noting that the reel for Fable 4 did not distinguish whether PC or Xbox Series X footage was used. This is leading some fans to speculate that the version that was seen wasn't actually running on Xbox hardware.

For fans who have been waiting since 2010 for the next entry into the fantasy RPG, the visuals won't likely matter when it comes to playing the game. They can be assured that Playground Games are working hard to ensure Fable remains true to its roots by taking established fairytales and weaving in the distinct humor the franchise is known for. Although there is no confirmed release window for Fable, when the title does release it will launch on Xbox Game Pass on day one.

Fable is in development for PC and Xbox Series X/S.
