Tony Cascarino has detailed the feeling in France is that Manu Kone is "going to Liverpool", as he also feels the Reds will spend "really big" this summer.

Kone is one of a number of midfield signings that have been mooted for this summer. The Reds have already signed Alexis Mac Allister, who cost them £35million from Brighton.

They've also been linked with the likes of Ryan Gravenberch and Khephren Thuram, after ending their interest in Jude Bellingham, who looks to be heading to Real Madrid.

The blueprint for midfield signings seems to be young players who will flourish into stars later down the line. Kone seems to fit the bill - he's 22 years old, and has shown promise in his two seasons so far with Borussia Monchengladbach.

Cascarino has detailed the general feeling in France, where Kone is from, is that he will be heading to Anfield this summer, and one of the main reasons is because he fits the profile that they want.

"Manu Kone is one they have been looking at. It has been talked about in France that he is going to Liverpool," he said on talkSPORT.

"That has been out there for a while. I do think they are reinventing that midfield and it was necessary."

Cascarino also mentioned the potential of Declan Rice signing for Liverpool. While it doesn't seem like it's going to happen, as Arsenal look to be making sound progress, Cascarino would be happy if it did.

"I don't think they will get him. But certainly, if they took Declan Rice, then I would love it," he added.

"I just don't think it will happen. There are other clubs in front of Liverpool for Declan Rice."

However, he does feel the Reds would have the money to compete, and while it might not be Rice they manage to sign, other expensive transfers are certainly possible.

"They have done it once before where they have spent really big on Alisson and [Virgil] van Dijk in a short period of time. I think this summer they will do again, but it probably won't be Rice," Cascarino said.

Indeed, it seems unlikely that Arsenal will be overtaken in the pursuit of the West Ham star, but Liverpool could certainly lure some other big names in given they managed to turn around a poor start to the season and finish in a respectable position.
