Australian rock'n'roll in the 2000s was dominated by a handful of world-beating bands.

Right up the top of the pile was Melburnian throwback rockers Jet, and their biggest moment came with their 2003 debut album Get Born.

In celebration of the 20th anniversary of that record's release, the band will head out on the road for the first time in years to play it in its entirety.

"Get Born was a rare and unique moment of total planetary alignment where we somehow managed to capture lighting in a bottle," frontman Nic Cester recalls of that time.

The album was packed with hit singles, including Hottest 100 winner 'Are You Gonna Be My Girl', and massive tunes like 'Look What You've Done', 'Rollover DJ' and 'Get Me Outta Here', none of which have lost their lustre after all these years.

It sold four million copies - it remains in the top five highest selling Australian rock records of all time - and took the band to great heights around the world.

"I don't remember much about the actual day Get Born was released, I think we were in Pittsburgh," bassist Mark Wilson admits. "I'm sure we celebrated, but to be honest we celebrated every night back in those days. 2003 was one big blurry haze for me."

Hopefully we'll all have clearer memories of the band when they cruise along the east coast and over to Adelaide for this very special tour.
