Tucker Carlson on Tuesday aired the third episode of 'Tucker on Twitter', his new show which has replaced his primetime Fox News slot

Tucker Carlson claimed on Tuesday night that Donald Trump was indicted because he dared to challenge the U.S. military industry, and question America's role in international conflicts.

He declared that the elite in Washington, D.C., decided to 'take Trump out' because he rejected involvement in foreign wars.

'It's been inevitable since February 16, 2016,' said Carlson.

'That's the day Donald Trump made a blood enemy of the largest and most powerful organization in human history, which would be the federal Government.'

The former Fox News host made the claims in the third episode of his social media news cast, Tucker On Twitter, which has replaced his primetime show.

Carlson was fired by Fox in April: the network is now taking legal action to stop him broadcasting on Twitter, insisting that he is not allowed to host a show until his contract ends in 2025.

But Carlson's lawyers insist that Fox executives violated his contract, and rendered it invalid, so he is free to air his show.

On Tuesday night he claimed that Trump's indictment was due to his foreign policy, and dislike of international involvement.

'Most of permanent Washington decided that thwarting Trump was the single most important mission in their lives,' he said.

He began by describing what he saw as the culmination of a plot to bring down Trump.

'The Biden administration arrested Donald Trump this afternoon: they had him arrested and fingerprinted in a Miami courthouse like the accused felon he technically is,' Carlson said.

'These are the first steps in a process that is designed to put Donald Trump behind bars for the rest of his life.

'Cable news carried every moment of it live: 'It's unprecedented', they told us, with what looked like shock.'

He said no one ought to be shocked, because his arrest had been a long time coming - sparked by his questioning of America's foreign policy.

He said his fate was sealed not by rhetoric around immigration, or China, or calling Mexicans rapists.

'Identity politics doesn't mean much to permanent Washington,' said Carlson.

'What matters, then and now, is foreign policy. The invasions and occupations and proxy wars.

'The decisions which determine which global populations will thrive, and which will die.

'The policies that come with trillion dollar price tags.

'The ones which, over time, made the counties around DC the richest suburbs in the world.'

He said that whenever 'Congress decides to start a war, no matter how foolish or counterproductive or obviously disconnected from America's interests that war may be', the political class respond enthusiastically.

'The leaders of both parties automatically jump behind it like circus clowns,' Carlson said.
