Homicide detectives are investigating the death of a 45-year-old man in the suburb of Lockridge, in Perth's north-east.
Police said a person who knew the man was visiting the home, on Diana Crescent, when they found the 45-year-old's body and alerted authorities yesterday afternoon.
WA Police Inspector Geoff DeSanges said it was believed the offender responsible for the man's death was also known to him.
"This does not appear to be a random incident, so we don't believe there's any ongoing risk to the community," he said.
Police said the victim was last heard from around 9am Sunday morning.
Inspector DeSanges said the investigation into the circumstances around his death was still in its early stages.
"We've got an open book, we're keeping an open mind, and every avenue of investigation is open," he said.
Police are appealing to the public for information, including for any dash cam or CCTV in the vicinity of Diana Crescent in Lockridge between Sunday morning and Monday afternoon.
"We need the assistance of the community on this one," Inspector DeSanges said.
"There are circumstances that have happened on the crime scene that give us rise to suspect that there was third-party involvement."
Responding to questions about whether any weapons were involved in the man's death, Inspector DeSanges said it was too early to reveal details that may jeopardise the investigation.
"We have not found that a firearm of any sort was involved in this," he said.
"I don't want to go into the investigation, it's very fresh, and I certainly don't want to compromise what the officers are doing at the moment."
