A house could be built in a former East Riding underground reservoir under plans lodged with the council.
Plans lodged with East Riding Council propose converting the former Broadgate Reservoir, west of Beverley. Agents Doug Jennings Planning Services stated in the application that the design of the house would reflect the structures of the reservoir's buildings.
The plans come after Yorkshire Water sold the site which is next to a quarry and another reservoir which remains in use. Barrelled roofs and a brick entrance building are the only structures belonging to the former reservoir which are visible above ground.

Plans show the top of the new house would mirror the barrelled roofs of the previous reservoir. Floor plans show three bedrooms on the ground floor, along with a cinema, games room, study, sauna, kitchen and lounges, along with an outside courtyard.
The first floor would feature another bedroom with its own en suite and outdoor terrace and the house would also have a triple garage. The application stated the plans would see a high quality house built in an area where there is a market for it.
Plans stated: "The application site is not readily visible from outside the site or any public highway or footpath. It is set in large grounds, mainly grass and bounded by hedgerows to its east and south. The application involves the conversion of the reservoir into a house. Internal alterations and external alterations to the structure, and an extension to create a small first floor, will be required to allow the conversion.
"The main living rooms and bedrooms will be on the ground floor facing onto an internal courtyard created by removing some of the existing roof. A triple garage would be formed off an access courtyard which will be where the front door opens onto, the proposed house will have a sympathetic design that reflects the character of the existing reservoir."
