10 people killed, multiple passengers taken to hospital after a bus crash in the NSW Hunter Valley

Ten people have been killed and multiple others injured after a bus crash in the New South Wales Hunter region. 

Emergency services were called to Wine Country Drive just after 11:30pm last night. 

Police say 10 people have died but that number could change, 11 people were taken to hospital and 18 passengers were uninjured. 

The bus driver, a 58-year-old man, was taken to hospital under police guard for mandatory assessment. 

A crime scene has been established and an investigation into the cause of the crash is underway.
