Australia outclassed India by 209 runs in the final of the World Test Championship to claim their maiden trophy. With this title, the Aussies are now the only nation in the world to win all ICC trophies across all formats of the game.
Needing 280 runs on day 5 to win the game, India were bowled out within the first session of the day. Virat Kohli departed first for 49 runs which opened the floodgates, with the rest succumbing meekly in front of a disciplined Aussie bowling effort.

Rahane managed to put up 46 runs before getting caught behind off Mitchell Starc's delivery. But apart from him, there was little resistance.
Batting first in the match Australia posted a massive total of 469 runs and then dismissed India for 296 in the first innings. Pat Cummins' side, in complete control of the game by then, declared their second innings at 270/8 and kept a target of 444 runs in front of India which eventually proved too much.
This was India's second consecutive WTC final loss. They lost to New Zealand in 2021 in the inaugural edition of the competition.
Australia now have five 50-over World Cups, one T20 World Cup, two Champions Trophies and one World Test Champion title.
