Now you can find hidden treasures in special sand blocks that you can uncover with a special tool. Called suspicious sand, they are easy to find if you know where to look. The first thing you need to do is build a brush tool. This is very important, as any other item will not let you get the treasure inside the block. A brush allows you to remove the sand but not break the item, much how like real life scientists do not use sharp picks on fragile fossils.

You can get feathers from killing adult chickens while sticks are made with bamboo or wooden planks. To make a copper ingot, place some raw copper or copper ore into a furnace lit with planks or coal. Once you get a brush, it's time to head to the sand.
The best way to find a desert biome is to sail through an ocean that is connected to a badlands biome. This might work with other biomes connected to a sea, but the best chance is definitely the badlands route.
In the desert, you're going to keep an eye out for the desert temple structures and wells where you'll find the suspicious sand blocks. Their base is above the ground, so you'll be able to see them without too much effort. Pyramid bases look like a three-block structure dotted with red blocks while desert wells look like a large square on top of a base. Down in these is where you will find the blocks.
Suspicious blocks stand out significantly compared to regular blocks because they have darker more pronounced spots. You can see the two compared below as a way to help you familiarize the difference.
