From the bottle:
We've enjoyed some lovely Tannat from Uruguay in the past so we were quite excited to pop this one open and give it a try. It turns out Tannat is not the only variety Uruguay can do well.
The 2018 Bodega Garzon Cabernet Franc Reserve begins with a pleasing aroma of blackberry, plum, earth, a little graphite and just a hint of a minty herbal note.
Tasting the wine reveals ripe fruit and no green pepper (pyrazine) notes so often found in Cabernet Franc. This easy to drink wine is full of flavorful fruit with touches of herbs and spice. Add in a smooth mouthfeel and soft tannins and this is a nice little Cab Franc!
It ends dry and quite long with a slightly grippy finish.
