Viggo Venn was the unexpected winner of Britain's Got Talent 2023, after leaving the audience in stitches with his 'one more time' catchphrase.

The Hi-Vis enthusiast even managed to win over head judge Simon Cowell, but he has expressed his shock at his victory.

He admitted he entered the competition as a joke, saying: "I never in a million years thought that I was going to get to the final, or even win.

"I was doing five-minute open mics, and that's kind of the length of an audition on Britain's Got Talent, so I thought it would be funny to enter as a joke.

"It's kind of surprising for a clown to win because we're supposed to lose and lose and lose.

"It's our thing, then the one thing I won is Britain's Got Talent. I'm not complaining though," he told The Metro.

He had caused chaos on the BGT stage, having sworn numerous times during the live show, forcing host Ant McPartlin to apologise.

The comedian also took a bad tumble down the stairs whilst exiting the stage following his semi-final performance.

After finding out he had won the show, he slid across the floor, taking out Ant's legs and causing him to fall.

The result was met with plenty of backlash and following the criticism, he pulled out of an interview with ITV's Lorraine Kelly shortly after.

However, he eventually sat down with the morning talk show host and claimed: "It is not my fault that I won, it is the British public."

Lorraine showed support for the performer, saying: "It is fantastic! But you know what Viggo, we need fun, and you are very silly."

Following his win, fans complained to the regulator Ofcom about the result, despite it being a public vote. Around 116 people complained in total.

Matt 'Bradderz' Bradbury said on Twitter: "I have watched BGT every single year and it's always been a favourite show (even auditioned myself many years back) but I will not be watching anymore.

"Viggo winning this year is a complete joke to the show and the actual talent competing on it #BGT"

Zayne added: "I'm so glad I stopped watching BGT. The show has gone downhill putting joke acts like Viggo through instead of talented people like the show is meant to be about and the judges have no backbone letting the crowd sway them just cancel it now #BGT"
