Konosuke Takeshita may be a vile heel on AEW programming at the moment, but that won't always be the case.
At AEW Double or Nothing, Takeshita betrayed The Elite and joined forces with Don Callis, attacking Kenny Omega in the process. Since then, the pair have become heat magnets, with Callis being booed mercilessly during an episode of AEW Dynamite. During this week's episode of Dynamite, Takeshita defeated Damon Ace in less than two minutes.
During the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer revealed that there are plans for Takeshita to turn face down the line. Meltzer added that AEW's intention is for Takeshita to be considered a top babyface by the time his turn is complete.
Bryan Alvarez pointed out that Takeshita turning on Don Callis would certainly make him a popular babyface with the fans. There is no word at this time as to when this turn is expected to take place.
Takeshita made his AEW debut at the company's first non-televised event 'The House Always Wins,' in 2021. For the 10-man tag-team match, Takeshita teamed with The Elite and Michael Nakazawa in a losing effort to Death Triangle and Mike and Matt Sydal.
Returning to AEW in April 2022, Takeshita made an impression the next month when he had an acclaimed non-title match with then-AEW World Champion 'Hangman' Adam Page. In November 2022, it was confirmed that Takeshita had signed a contract with All Elite Wrestling.
