Here are your morning Leeds United headlines on Wednesday, June 7.

Those close to former Aston Villa and Rangers boss Steven Gerrard believe he has a 'strong chance' of landing the Leeds United job.

That is according to the Athletic, who claim former Bournemouth and Fulham boss Scott Parker is also under consideration, alongside former Leicester and Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers and current West Brom head coach Carlos Corberan.

Gerrard's assistant at both Rangers and Villa, Gary McAllister, is a club legend at Elland Road and was invited to give the squad a pep talk ahead of the last game of the Premier League season.

Amid the backdrop of takeover saga which finally looks to be entering its endgame, Leeds United's search for a new head coach continues. The club called time on Sam Allardyce's brief spell in charge last week and with Andrea Radrizzani and 49ers Enterprises reportedly nearing an agreement over a full takeover, appointing a new head coach will be a chief priority.

A number of names have been linked with the vacancy, with former Rangers and Aston Villa boss Steven Gerrard one of the favourites with the bookmakers. Leeds fans have been somewhat sceptical over the prospect of the former Liverpool and England skipper taking charge of the club, a view that is echoed by Ally McCoist.

"I'm not sure, and I'm not sure, believe it or not, Leeds would be the best choice for Steven Gerrard," the Rangers legend said on talkSPORT. "I've said it about Frank [Lampard], I would like to see Steven and Frank go abroad, broaden their coaching and managerial horizons."

Former Leeds United midfielder Lee Bowyer says adopting a Marcelo Bielsa-esque style of play is one of the ways he would get the Whites back into the Premier League following their disastrous campaign that ended in relegation this season.

Bowyer, who spent six-and-a-half seasons at Elland Road and has also talked up his desire to take the helm in West Yorkshire as the club continues their search for a new boss, told talkSPORT how he would get Leeds promoted at the first attempt.

"You do it the way Bielsa did it, you play this expansive and attacking football. That's what the fans there cry out for and as long as you're on the front foot and you're pressing that's why everyone loved them so much," he said.
