From June 11-18, 2023, food enthusiasts and culture connoisseurs will gather for the highly anticipated Black Food & Wine Experience. Now in its sixth year, this unique event embraces the intersection of food, beverage, education, health, and Black culture. This year, the experience will expand its reach beyond Oakland to various locations throughout the vibrant San Francisco Bay Area.

Aminah "Chef Mimi" Robinson-Briscoe, the founder of the Black Food & Wine Experience, has established a space where Black excellence and hospitality take center stage. The week-long festivities will feature a diverse array of activities. The Food & Beverage Summit, Winemaker Dinner Series, and Afro-Caribbean Experience are just a few events during the experience. Not to be missed, the Grand Tasting event will take place at San Francisco's historic Ferry Building.

"It is a joy and privilege to showcase the rich food and beverage culture and incredible hospitality professionals of the African Diaspora in the Bay Area, arguably one of the best culinary destinations in the world," said Chef Mimi. "This experiential escape for foodies into a world purveyed by Black culinary creatives, chefs, restaurants and vintners is a wonderful way to highlight often-overlooked Black industry talent allowing them, too, to inspire, share, and to grow in these challenging times."

Highlighting the lineup is the second annual Black Food & Beverage Summit. This key component of this year's experience takes place on June 15, aiming to uplift BIPOC food and beverage entrepreneurs. Leading the summit will be Colleen Vincent, vice president of community for the prestigious James Beard Foundation. The event will provide invaluable opportunities for community building, recruitment, and knowledge sharing through engaging panel discussions. Key topics include access to entry, funding, business resources, and navigating the intricate landscape of the food and beverage industry.

As BFWE expands its footprint, it serves as a powerful platform for showcasing the culinary contributions of the African Diaspora. From traditional dishes to innovative fusion creations, attendees will enjoy culinary delights reflecting Black cuisine's diversity and richness. The event is a celebration of heritage and an opportunity to uplift Black food and beverage professionals, fostering inclusivity within the industry.

The Black Food & Wine Experience is a testament to the ongoing efforts to create spaces where Black entrepreneurs, chefs, and artisans can flourish and share their talents. From exploring new taste sensations to forging meaningful connections, the Black Food & Wine Experience promises an enlightening journey for everyone.
