The boss of a quaint farmyard cafe is crying out for foodies to visit and see what they are missing - with many potential customers completely unaware it is there.

G Gees Cafe at Shuker's farm shop and butchers', in Weston Coyney, took over the former Trentham Bakehouse cafe but says people often assume it is closed, as opening times were said to be irregular under the cafe's former owner.

Lorna Wilde opened the business in Leek Road as she saw opportunity in the location and already has a successful G Gees Cafe at Somerford Park Farm, near Congleton.

The businesswoman said: "A lot of people don't know we're here because the last owners didn't open their cafe very much. When customers come in they say 'we're surprised you're open, we thought this place was shut'. But once people come they always come back again, which is nice."

G Gees offers a range of cakes, muffins and tray-baked treats, as well as a breakfast and lunch menu. Some of the meals include oatcakes, jacket potatoes, sandwiches, cheesy chips, and a farmhouse breakfast that costs less than a tenner and includes a brew.

The cafe also caters for small baby showers, birthdays, or other special occasions to enjoy an afternoon tea, but these must be booked in advance. People working nearby can take advantage of the farmyard gem's takeaway service; order on the phone and collect at their chosen time.

All the food is freshly made on site, with most of its produce bought from Shuker's. Co-worker Jo Dambok has worked at the cafe since it opened.

Lorna added: "Jo's doing an amazing job trying to break the stigma that people think we're closed. All the customers love her and she's great at what she does - Jo's the real face of G Gees at Shuker's. She keeps the customers coming back because she's brilliant with people."

Jo said: "I love G Gees cafe, it's a lovely place to work. I just love people. I've always worked in customer service and always have. This cafe is a great place for families too, because people can see the farm animals for free - which kids love - and we're dog friendly too."

G Gees Cafe at Shuker's is open from 9am until 4pm from Monday to Sunday. The kitchen closes for meals at 3pm. Free parking is available in Shuker's farm grounds as are toilets. Outdoor seating is also available and loyalty cards are available.
