It's undoubtedly a small detail, but ultimately it's the more discreet ones that build up the illusion of reality, creating the most immersive experience possible. Another Red Dead Redemption 2 player discovered a great detail about the game's rabbits, so it's clear that the animals were an important part of the world Rockstar was trying to create.
Many other players shared their own playtime in the thread, and others with hundreds of hours in the game had never seen this detail either. It just shows what an active community this game has. While it seems that the Red Dead Redemption 2 next-gen upgrade may never happen, Rockstar should seriously reconsider, as it would be amazing to see these details brought onto current-generation platforms. It's the least the game deserves.
It's not just the level of detail that Rockstar has achieved that is impressive, but it's also the scale at which the studio has managed it on. Red Dead Redemption 2 is enormous, but it doesn't feel like there's any wasted space. Some feel that Red Dead Redemption 3 could be the smallest game in the franchise by taking a step back in scale, but there's nothing to suggest that this is the route Rockstar will take. The studio has always been about pushing the boundaries of what is possible, both in terms of gameplay and visuals. It would be a strange move if that were to change with a Red Dead Redemption 2 sequel.
