Two Diablo 4 Classes Have The Upper Hand Against One Particular Enemy

While Diablo 4 players may be selecting their character's class for a variety of reasons, be it for their strength in the endgame, ease of leveling up in the early game, or just because one sounds fun to play, there is another element players may want to consider before settling on a class. Diablo 4 is full of tough enemies that players will need to overcome during their time in Sanctuary, but Treasure Goblins are one rare enemy that proves to be more useful than the rest. These enemies are quite elusive but offer fantastic rewards when defeated, so players may want to ensure they choose a class that can easily take Treasure Goblins down.

First appearing in Diablo 3, Treasure Goblins make their return in Diablo 4 as rare but highly sought-after enemies due to their increased chances of dropping loot like legendary items and cosmetics upon defeat. They are tough foes to defeat, though, as while they are not particularly strong, they are fast and will immediately run away from the player and attempt to dive into a portal to safety. Given how speedy these Treasure Goblins are, the classes of Sorcerer and Rogue are in unique positions that make them ideal Treasure Goblin hunters.

Aside from their penchant for collecting valuable loot, the defining feature of Diablo 4's Treasure Goblins is their speed, oftentimes being much faster than the player can keep up with. When spotted, Treasure Goblins will tend to run through nearby groups of other enemies in order to aggro them to the player in an attempt to evade pursuit. However, there is a way to slow these creatures down and make their capture more manageable that both Diablo 4's Sorcerer and Rogue classes excel at, adding to these classes' already fantastic utility.

Rather than trying to increase their character's movement speed, the player's best strategy for catching and defeating Treasure Goblins in Diablo 4 is to try and slow them down as much as possible. To do this, players will want to utilize Cold elemental damage which applies a movement speed debuff to enemies when they take Cold damage. Hitting enemies with enough Cold damage can even Freeze them and render them totally immobile for a short period, creating the perfect opportunity to finish off a Treasure Goblin while they're unable to escape.

Sorcerers and Rogues both have the potential to inflict Cold damage from a distance depending on what type of build players are going for and which skills and equipment they have invested in. Sorcerers have the easiest way to Freeze enemies as players can invest in their Frost Bolt and Ice Shards skills early to inflict the status condition with the Frost Bolt basic attack and then deal increased damage to Frozen enemies with Ice Shards. Rogues who go for Diablo 4's Cold Archer build can also inflict Cold and Freeze on enemies by utilizing the class' Imbuement mechanic to give their arrows the ability to deal Cold damage from a distance.

While other Diablo 4 classes can dabble in dealing Cold damage, like the Necromancer with Cold Mages summoned, Sorcerers and Rogues have by far the most reliable access to the element and can consistently inflict it from a distance. The combination of these elements makes these two classes well-equipped to deal with Treasure Goblins in addition to many of Diablo 4's other enemy types. Although the benefit of easier Treasure Goblin hunting might not be the most important aspect of these classes, it could be the deciding factor for players who are still on the fence about which Diablo 4 class they want to play.

Diablo 4 is available now in early access with its full launch coming June 6 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
