The New Orleans Saints believe they have their franchise quarterback in Derek Carr, and they're doing everything they can to incorporate him into the team's offense.

That includes bringing in his former head coach Jon Gruden to give some insight on how to use Carr as well as on his strengths and weaknesses.

Gruden's exit from the Las Vegas Raiders was due to a series of controversial and offensive emails that offended several groups, and the Saints have received some criticism for bringing him in for an official visit.

Saints head coach Dennis Allen took some time to respond to that criticism.

"You ask everybody that was involved and they thought it was really beneficial for our football team," Allen said. "And look, we're going to look at any avenue that we can to try to improve."

It appears that Allen isn't concerned with the outside perception of bringing Gruden in.

It's also worth noting that the Saints have not hired Gruden in any official capacity - and they haven't said there will be another meeting.

Gruden likely has a long road of apologies and reflection ahead of him if he's going to have another job in the NFL.

That job isn't coming from the Saints in 2023, but it will be interesting to see what happens going forward.
