Earlier this week, NASCAR handed Chase Elliott a one-race suspension for deliberately crashing into Denny Hamlin in the Coca-Cola 600. Last year, Bubba Wallace was suspended one race for intentionally hooking Kyle Larson.

Speaking to the media this weekend, Wallace was asked about Elliott's suspension. He apparently didn't appreciate that this past Monday's crash was compared to his incident with Larson from the 2022 season.

"They compared it? I thought they said it was very different," Wallace said. "Mind-boggling, yes it is."

Wallace then offered his thoughts on NASCAR being consistent when it comes to disciplining those who intentionally hook other drivers.

"They're all about it. They're finally putting their foot down on a lot of instances. It's good. You need to stop letting the tail wag the dog."

Elton Sawyer, NASCAR's senior vice president of competition, commented on this subject during a recent appearance on SiriusXM Radio.

"We take this very seriously," Sawyer said. "The incident that happened off Turn 4, after looking at all the available resources . it was an intentional act by Chase, in our opinion, after reviewing all the available resources there.

"In the heat of the battle, things happen, but drivers needs to understand you have to handle that in a completely different way than hooking someone in the right rear and putting them in harm's way."

The Cup Series returns this Sunday with the Enjoy Illinois 300.
