Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Players Have Great Idea for DLC

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom players have a great idea about potential DLC that would allow Link to greatly contribute toward rebuilding Hyrule. In The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, many villages are left in ruin due to the events that followed Link and Zelda's expedition underneath Hyrule Castle.

After waking up in the sky islands and successfully gaining new abilities with the guidance of Rauru, Link is able to descend into Hyrule and notice several changes that occurred while he was away, largely thanks to the spread of the mysterious Gloom and the destruction caused by falling rubble from the sky islands. After people left in droves to more secure towns and settlements, Bokoblin and Moblin enemies moved into the ruins to set up camp. Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom players may clear out the ruined villages to acquire more loot and explore nearby wells, but people will not return to these villages in its current state.

Orikron and fellow Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom players suggest new DLC for the game should allow Link to help rebuilding efforts for the ruined villages scattered across Hyrule. In this new DLC, players would be able to gather resources, accept new quests, and encourage people to move into the newly rebuilt villages. Some players believe this idea is very reminiscent of Fallout 4's polarizing settlement system, while others believe the DLC could work due to the sheer amount of resources readily available in Hyrule.

This new DLC idea appears to be inspired by Zelda's quote from the ending of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild where she states Link may "restore Hyrule to its former glory, perhaps even beyond." Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom takes place directly after the events of Breath of the Wild, so Link and Zelda were unable to put into any concrete plans into motion regarding a restoration of the Kingdom of Hyrule.

If Orikron's DLC idea was fully realized by the development team, players would have even more intriguing content to play through in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. The game's world is already vast, but the new DLC would allow players to repurpose ruins that would normally be left vacant after defeating enemies within the vicinity. An update accompanied by this DLC could bring several quality-of-life changes for Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom as well.

Nintendo has not expressed plans for Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom DLC, so players may want to temper expectations about the post-launch support. At the very least, the company is committed to releasing Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom updates that will fix bugs and improve the overall player experience.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is available now for Nintendo Switch.
