Pokemon GO boasts a wide range of monster spawns and events that make the gameplay an engaging experience. Every year, numerous new monsters debut through in-game Raids and other events. The game has multiple Raid Events, ranging from 3-Star to 6-Star Raids. Mega Raids are also a part of it; multiple Mega Monsters reign as the Mega Raid Bosses on the platform.
Mega Swampert is returning as a Mega Raid Boss in Pokemon GO. The Mega Evolution is powerful, so players require in-depth knowledge of the game's meta to defeat it. One cannot complete the Raid solo, so multiple players need to band together to conquer the Raid.

The Mega Swampert Raid started on June 1, 10 AM Local Time, and ends on June 15, 10 AM Local Time. Players must carefully select their counters and study the Pokemon GO meta to defeat this Mega Raid Boss.
Mega Swampert is a dual Water/Ground-type Mega Monster with a maximum CP of 4975 in Pokemon GO. It has an attack-centric stat spread comprising 283 Attack, 218 Defense, and 225 Stamina Power. The best moveset for this Mega Boss combines Water Gun (STAB) and the Legacy Charge Move Hydro Cannon (STAB), resulting in 25.31 DPS.
The Mega Pokemon shows boosted weakness against Grass-type attacks, but easily resists moves of Electric, Fire, Poison, Rock, and Steel-type attacks. The basic strategy is to use the Pokemon and moves it is weak against; avoid using the ones it can resist.
One thing to keep in mind is the Same Type Attack Bonus (STAB) feature in Pokemon GO battles. When a Pokemon's elemental type and its attackare 's type are the same, it can inflict extra damage on the enemy.
Mega Swampert's power gets further boosted as a Mega Raid Boss. Since the Pokemon is weak against Grass-types, players can use Grass-type counters with powerful Grass-type moves in their arsenal. Here are some of the best counters against Mega Swampert in Pokemon GO:

Shiny Mega Swampert isn't available in the wild, and can only be encountered by defeating the Raid Boss. Players need to stock up on Raid Passes to participate in the maximum number of Raids; this will help catch up with its Shiny Rate.
Weather condition plays a notable role in Pokemon GO. The Weather Boost function can significantly increase a Pokemon's spawn rate. Since Mega Swampert's spawn rate gets boosted in Rain and Sunny weather, the best strategy would be to participate in Raid Locations with such weather conditions.
Collect as many Pokeballs as possible, since it would be disheartening if Pokemon GO players encounter a Shiny Mega Swampert but lack Pokeballs to catch it. The last thing to note is that even if one successfully defeats the Mega Raid Boss, there is no certainty that the spawn will be a Shiny Variant.
Pokemon GO is available for Android and iOS.
