Sonic Frontiers Update Explaining Battle Rush And Cyber Space Challenge

The enemies of Sonic Frontiers put up a good fight. Variety for the enemies goes from basic foot soldiers to more gimmicky types; ones that can steal your Chaos Emeralds or create balloons you need to homing attack. The Guardians and Titans are what pack the real punch. With Battle Rush, you will now be asked to take on every enemy type one after another.

Battle Rush isn't messing around. Sonic will need to be properly leveled before you attempt this because, if he can't hit as hard as possible, you won't get past the first round.

Battle Rush is started by opening it from the title screen. Once you've selected it, you will be brought to your list of save files and asked to pick one. Sonic's stats are carried over from the save file of your choosing, which is the most important thing to keep in mind. Do not pick randomly. Your score for Battle Rush will stay saved separately. The main concern is that you need to pick a save file where Sonic has excellent attack and speed stats.

Battle Rush is broken up into phases for each of the Islands. To use Kronos Island as the example, there are a total of ten phases that you have to beat. In each phase, a different enemy on that island will need to be defeated. While difficulty does ramp up for each phase, enemies are chosen to make each phase challenging but fair. When you are against a basic enemy type, you will have to defeat a handful of them. Guardians and Titans will be one-on-one.

You have no control over the difficulty selection. No matter which difficulty you chose for your save file, Battle Rush is only played on Hard. If your Sonic has reached his full potential before you try Battle Rush, basic enemies can go down in one homing attack. You will have a harder time with the Guardians, such as Squid and Asura. They have the same tricks they always do, so if you've already learned how to defeat these Guardians, you may feel safer. Finally, you are timed throughout the challenge and ranked after every phase.

Just like the main story, Kronos Island sees you match up against the fearsome Titan named Giganto. Turn into Super Sonic, and you will take no damage from him. Instead, you'll lose rings more and more as the fight goes on. This fight is directly copied from the version in the main game, and that includes the section where Sonic has to climb Giganto and retrieve the last Chaos Emerald. Even with a fully leveled Sonic, you may struggle with finishing the Giganto Titan boss with a good time. You'll hit him hard if you're fully leveled, but you don't get your bonus of speed to help you anymore.

The way to unlock Battle Rush for Ares Island and onward is by finishing the previous Island's Battle Rush with a combined rank of A or S. As noted on the above stat screen, this is easier to fail than it sounds. In the above picture, an S rank was earned for the first eight phases, but in phase nine the rank ended up as a B, followed by a C for the Titan matchup. The overall ranking for the challenge ended up dropping to a C.

The final rank is based on the timer. There is a timer that starts once you begin the first phase, and it only stops once you beat phase ten. While you only need an A rank to unlock the Ares Island challenges, there is a secret reward for players who earn an S rank for every single phase of Battle Rush. Whether you are just here to play Battle Rush for fun, or if you want the secret, you have to be powerful as well as fast.

If you are planning on grabbing an S rank on each Island, the required time limit you have to beat for Kronos Island is five minutes. If you end any phase with an A or lower, start again. Be warned, you will be going to the very beginning of the challenge. Even if you are only looking to pass with an A, you should consider restarting if you have a B or lower. The gap is hard to make up.
