Ventricular tachycardia (VT) should always be considered a serious medical problem. Normal heart beats arise from an area in the right upper heart chamber (atria) called the sinus node. Ventricular tachycardia happens when the electrical activity starts in one of the lower chambers (ventricles) and keeps triggering a fast heartbeat. If there are only a few beats and it stops quickly, it's called non-sustained VT. But it's essential that the cause of non-sustained VT gets evaluated. If VT goes on for more than 30 seconds, it can be life threatening.

Ventricular tachycardia lowers the blood pressure ( hypotension), resulting in syncope or fainting. Cardiac arrest may happen due to life-threatening arrhythmias. It also disrupts normal heart functioning, overworks the heart, and leads to heart failure.

Ventricular tachycardia is a type of fast heart rhythm that starts in the ventricles. The heartbeat might be more than 100 per minute. You may feel dizziness or shortness of breath or have chest pain. Sometimes it may cause sudden cardiac arrest, which is a life-threatening medical emergency.

Ventricular tachycardia is an emergency condition which may lead to sudden cardiac arrest leading to sudden death. There are two types of ventricular tachycardia that is sustained (<30 seconds) and non-sustained (>30 seconds). Non-sustained ventricular tachycardia are more dangerous and requires active intervention in hospital setting. Common symptoms are palpitations, giddiness, lightheadedness, syncope and even sudden death.
