The Dead Space Remake puts players face to face with terrifying foes as Isaac Clarke, the game's protagonist, attempts to escape a doomed mining installation with a handful of the ship's inhabitants. As new revelations unfold, Isaac meets the crazed Dr. Mercer face to face, who pits Isaac against his creation: The Hunter.

The first Hunter encounter occurs during Chapter 5 shortly after Isaac shuts down the broadcasting station. During this event, Isaac is frozen in place by Dr. Mercer, who then discloses some cryptic information regarding the Convergence. To remove Isaac from the picture, Dr. Mercer releases the Hunter, an enemy you will have to defeat towards the climax of Chapter 5.
The Hunter is one of the few regenerative types of enemies you encounter. While you can slow it down with your Stasis ability - and by severing its limbs - the creature cannot truly be defeated via conventional methods. After the Hunter bursts out of its enclosure, you will have no other option but to 'escape the creature.'
The Hunter is a lingering threat for the majority of Chapter 5, and though dismembering the creature is quite easy, you will be unable to beat it until you reach the Cryogenics Lab. Of course, on your way to the Cryogenics portion of the ship, there are a few instances where you will be locked in the same room as the creature whilst completing other objectives. During these instances, keep your distance. The Hunter is quite slow, but it is also remarkably deadly once it gets a hold of you.

Your final encounter with the Hunter will take place after you have acquired the Liquid Nitrogen within the Cryogenics Lab. Though defeating a creature capable of regenerating may seem like an impossible task, beating the Hunter is surprisingly easy. In the center of the lab, there will be a large cryogenic chamber. Lure the Hunter into the chamber and make use of your Stasis ability to slow it down.
From here, proceed to the Cryogenics Control Room (located opposite the chamber) and interact with the terminal inside to initiate the chamber. If you manage to initiate the chamber while the Hunter is inside, it will be locked within and doused in Liquid Nitrogen - thus putting it down for good.
