Tottenham's pursuit of a new manager has been tumultuous to say the least with over two months now having passed the since dismissal of Antonio Conte. Favourites and frontrunners for the job have come and gone and there is yet to be a clear, finalised short list of names that Daniel Levy hopes to appoint.

For the final few months of the 2022/23 season, Ryan Mason has been in interim charge which has also resulted in him putting forward his case to take over permanently. Julian Nagelsmann appeared to be the first priority for Spurs, although disagreements regarding Levy's director of football decision led to him pulling out of the race.

Alongside bringing in a new coach, the director of football position also needs to be filled and will likely been done before the next manager comes in. It looked as though Spurs had found the perfect man for the job in Arne Slot, but the Feyenoord boss shattered hopes of that by making a major decision on his managerial future.

Nonetheless, some names still remain in the frame such as Ange Postecoglou, Ruben Amorim, Luis Enrique and Roberto De Zerbi. With that said, football.london has rounded up the latest news and updates regarding Tottenham's manager search.

Talks scheduled

Tottenham have scheduled a new round of talks with Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou over the possibility of joining the club this summer. That's according to Fabrizio Romano, who claims the Australian coach remains the preferred choice to become the next head coach for Spurs.

Decision made

Tottenham have made Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou their preferred managerial option this summer, according to a report from Sky Sports. Chairman Daniel Levy is set to make a decision on a new head coach soon, also removing Roberto De Zerbi and Marco Silva from the shortlist.

Ange Postecoglou move

Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou is being strongly considered by Tottenham and is now seen as one of the main candidates for the role, according to The Independent's Miguel Delaney.

Postecoglou was asked about the links on Friday, to which he replied: "Well, I'm aware of it because everyone keeps asking me about it. It's happened in the past.

"I think I've been pretty clear that it's just not the way I think and work. My priority right now is just looking at trying to make sure we have a special day tomorrow [against Aberdeen]. We've got a big cup final coming up in a week's time. I'm not going to sort of sit there and sort of try and get distracted by things that are kind of fascinating for other people rather than myself," he continued.

"So yeah, that's where my focus is, and that's what it will continue to be. We've got a couple of big games, and we've had a fantastic season, and we've got an opportunity to make it a really special one."

De Zerbi timeline

Roberto De Zerbi offered an intriguing update on his future at Brighton prior to their clash with Manchester City. "I didn't say I will stay a long time," De Zerbi revealed ahead of Wednesday's clash with Man City. "I will stay next year but not because I don't want to stay a long time because I am used to saying something if I am sure that I won't lose my work," De Zerbi said at his pre-match press conference on Tuesday.

"It can happen if Tony [Bloom] doesn't sack me, no? It can happen. I want to feel the fire in my work. I want to feel a strong motivation and I want to enjoy. Until that moment, probably I will stay."

Enrique to PSG

Luis Enrique is of interest to Paris Saint-Germain with a departure for current manager Christophe Galtier expected at the end of the season

According to Le Parisien, the former Barcelona and Spain manager is a candidate for the job along with Jose Mourinho and Thiago Motta.

Tottenham have Enrique down as a potential manager they are interested in appointing, but any formal talks over the vacancy are yet to occur.

Arne Slot blow

Feyenoord announced on Friday, May 26 that manager Arne Slot has extended his stay with the club until 2026. The 44-year-old was the firm favourite to take charge at Tottenham, but a meeting on Wednesday with club officials saw an extension on his current deal agreed.

Upon signing new terms, Slot said: "I'm not done here yet. We have had a wonderful season with Feyenoord, with the championship as a wonderful reward for all the hard work that has been put in, but I really want to continue building.

"After the summer, an adventure awaits in the Champions League and there is a national title to defend. Enough to look forward to, so I am proud to be and remain Feyenoord's trainer in Rotterdam."
