The Attitude Era was a key time for WWE, and because of that fans often look back upon it with rose-tinted glasses and only seen the positives. That includes both inside and out of the ring, but that wasn't always the case because while many great bonds were formed at this time, not everybody got along.

Many wrestlers had a lot of tension during this period as everyone was fighting to be on top and claim a spot, which meant that there was a lot of tension. Because of that, there were plenty of wrestlers during this time that didn't see eye to eye backstage.

One of the most well-known friendships from the Attitude Era is that of Triple H and Shawn Michaels. The D-Generation X members had such strong chemistry on screen for a reason, and that's because they were so close behind the scenes as well, spending a lot of time together.

Their friendship has withstood the test of time, which is impressive considering the fact they both operated at the top end of the business against each other and as a team. However, their bond certainly worked well for them in terms of building their careers.

While Shawn Michaels' friendship with Triple H is very well known, so is the fact that he didn't get along with Bret Hart. The two men were extremely competitive with each other, always wanting to one-up the other and be the face of the company which brought plenty of tension.

The Montreal Screwjob was the breaking point between them, but there were serious issues long before that. There were a lot of issues between them over the years, and that is something that they had to deal with.

The Undertaker and The Godfather might have been operating at different levels on the overall card, but that didn't stop the two men from becoming very close behind the scenes. The duo would always spend time together backstage with both of them being members of the Bone Street Krew.

This group of friends came together to play dominos and hang out when they weren't competing inside the ring as this is how they would spend their time. Undertaker and Godfather became particularly close, being drinking buddies that have stayed close to this day.

The Kliq were a group that often rubbed other people the wrong way due to their behavior, and that is something that led to Scott Hall having issues with Bam Bam Bigelow. Even though they were both top stars at the time, they did not get along backstage as Bigelow didn't appreciate how Hall operated.

He believed that Hall was constantly looking to go behind people's backs to help himself, and Bigelow didn't have a problem in letting him know that he wasn't happy with the situation.

Some wrestlers become close when they are thrown together into a tag team, but the situation was different with Edge and Christian because they came into WWE as good friends already. The bond between them was already established from their youth and that is why they worked so well together.

They enjoyed tons of success as partners and their connection as friends was certainly a big part of pushing that. The two never fell out over the years either, remaining friends still to this point.

Backstage pranks were common during the Attitude Era, but a lot of the time they ended up going too far and becoming problematic. That was clear with X-Pac and Sable when the D-Generation X star decided to go to the toilet in a cup and then put it into her bag.

This was done on purpose as the two of them didn't get along, and the fact he took it that far said a lot about the issues between them at that stage in time. It's something that caused problems and didn't go down well in that moment.

Steve Austin has always admitted he was very reserved during his time in the business, often preferring to focus on himself and work on his career. However, he did create several friendships and one of those was with Mick Foley which was a bond that they began during their time in ECW.

The two of them worked against each other and as tag team partners at times, but they remained friends throughout it all. They spent time traveling together and often roomed together as well, having a true friendship.

Jeff Jarrett was someone who worked hard to keep his spot protected and ensured that he was always in a good position, and that is something that Ahmed Johnson wasn't happy about. He and Jarrett didn't get along behind the scenes which was because Johnson felt Jarrett wasn't willing to lose to him.

Backstage politics often bring up issues such as this as people are always wanting to look out for themselves to do what is best, and that seemed to cause problems between the two men at that time.

JBL and Ron Simmons were two hard-hitting wrestlers that worked hard to be locker-room leaders as they demanded the respect of their peers, and that is what they received. The two of them achieved a lot over the years and while they weren't always a team their friendship always remained.

They enjoyed hanging out away from the ring, whether it was drinking beer or just traveling the road, with the duo being well-known for spending a lot of time together.

Wrestlers refusing to lose is something that will always cause problems in the professional wrestling world, and that was the case with Jean-Pierre LaFitte and Diesel. Even though Diesel was one of the biggest stars in the business and had a lot of political swing backstage, LaFitte opted to refuse to lose against him at a house show.

This is something that caused major problems between the two, with LaFitte ending up losing his job eventually which showcases that the issues could have had an even bigger impact.
