Former West Ham United midfielder Martin Allen expects Hammers boss David Moyes to walk away from the club when the season ends.

The Hammers, in their third full season under Moyes since the start of his second spell in charge in December 2019, have had a mixed campaign this term. While a 14th-placed finish in the Premier League is well below the sixth and seventh placed finishes of the previous two campaigns, they are in the final of this season's Europa Conference League, facing Fiorentina in Prague next Wednesday.

Despite what could still be one of West Ham's most historic seasons ever, Moyes has spent much of the season under pressure from supporters, with many calling for him to be sacked at various stages of the campaign.

Moyes himself has admitted that it would have been easy for the club's board to dispose of Moyes earlier in the season, but has been grateful for their backing.

Although Moyes appears to have turned a corner, Allen, who played 190 league games for West Ham between 1989 and 1995, believes that the pressure on Moyes will lead to him wanting to part ways with the club once the season ends.

"He'll walk away I believe," Allen told The West Ham Way podcast .. "Let's be honest he hasn't been appreciated despite delivering success. We have had it really good for a long period under Moyes.

"I was at the Fulham away game and fans were singing 'you don't know what you're doing', putting up a 'Moyes out' banner. You could see it hurt him. If I was him, I'd say thank you it's been a pleasure, but I am off.

"Then what do we do? Who do we get in? Easy to keep saying 'get rid of Moyes', but I struggle to see who [to replace him] with."
