Latest Nottingham Forest headlines on Friday, June 2.

Now the curtain has come down on the 2022/23 campaign, Nottingham Forest's planning for another season of Premier League football can begin in earnest.

And with the Reds keen to establish themselves in the top-flight, they face a big summer transfer window. Overseeing the right ins and outs will be key.

Teddy Sheringham has hailed the "perfect" decision to award Steve Cooper a long-term contract when he came under pressure earlier in the season.

The Nottingham Forest boss appeared to be close to being sacked at multiple points during the campaign in order for the club to hire a more experienced Premier League manager.

Ultimately owner Evangelos Marinakis stuck by Cooper and much to the surprise of many, awarded the former Swansea boss a new contract back in October shortly after the Reds suffered a heavy 4-0 loss at Leicester City. The decision was rewarded as Forest stayed up at the expense of the Foxes, Leeds and Southampton.

Pundit Simon Jordan believes Nottingham Forest boss Steve Cooper is a "balanced" individual in comparison to people "in a bubble" like Jose Mourinho.

Former Manchester United and Chelsea boss Mourinho lost his first European final as a manager on Wednesday night after his Roma team where beaten on penalties in the Europa League final against Sevilla.

It means that the Italian side will miss out on a place in the Champions League next season with speculation that the Portuguese coach could leave in the summer.

Nottingham Forest have encountered a problem in their attempts to sign Renan Lodi permanently this summer with the club having to 'renegotiate' a deal with Atletico Madrid.

The defender arrived at the City Ground on a season-long loan last summer, and played a key part in Steve Cooper 's men securing their place in the Premier League for next season. He played a total of 28 times in the league, including starting the last eight games.

According to Marca, via SportWitness , Forest did have an option to buy Lodi for ?30m included in the loan deal, but that option had to be triggered by March, something which didn't happen. Forest are reportedly looking to 'renegotiate' at a lower price.
