Destiny 2: 10 Questions That Need To Be Answered Before The Game Finishes

The end of Destiny 2 is approaching. With the release of Lightfall, it's only a matter of time before the tale of Light vs Darkness ends with The Final Shape, the epic conclusion to Destiny 2, and the storyline that has been with fans for almost a decade. Yet, with little time left, huge demand, and expectations, players have some Destiny 2 questions that need answering before it's all over.

No one can say for certain what awaits the Destiny series after The Final Shape. However, there are some conclusions that fans want to see. Many storylines and characters that have been introduced need an ending, and hopefully, some of these questions are answered before Destiny 2 finishes.

As of the release of Destiny 2's Lightfall expansion, the history of the Witness is unknown. As the main antagonist to the Destiny series, it's no surprise that the Witness harbors the most mystery and intrigue among players. After all, this is a being so immense and grand, that they were able to dismantle a Ghost and its Guardian with just a thought.

It is completely unknown what the Witness is. Whether it was a mortal that was embued with immeasurable power, or it was birthed from Darkness itself. All that is known about the Witness is the obsession with the Final Shape and the pursuit of the Traveler. Which begs the question of what and why?

Perhaps the most enigmatic entities in the entirety of Destiny, the Nine have a power above Light and Dark and exist within a realm that is entirely misunderstood. All that is known about the Nine is that they are composed of dark matter. Their powers and motives are completely unknown, but they seem to have a keen interest in the wars that the Guardians are faced with, for what reason remains uncertain.

The Nine seem to be neither allies nor enemies, although they did play a hand in the destruction of the tower, because one member of the Nine blinded the Guardians' knowledge of the Red Legion coming to the Last City, thus beginning the Red War. The Nine need a deeper understanding before the end of the game.

The biggest confusion surrounding Lightfall and the entire Destiny community was the Veil. This strange paracausal entity/artifact has brought countless theories to the table but with little conclusion. All that is known about the Veil is that it has something to do with the Traveler and its "Pale heart".

The creation of the Veil is unknown, as is its purpose. Perhaps answers are to come before The Final Shape, with the incoming Destiny 2 seasons that will unfold more of the story. However, as it stands, the Veil remains a mystery that could spell the Traveler's demise.

As it stands, Guardians have killed a worm god, Oryx, and Savathûn. Yet, one member of the party remains undefeated. Xivu Arath is the last surviving sister to Oryx and Savathûn. That does not mean she has not shared the spotlight, as Xivu Arath has already made herself known to the Guardians as the God of War, including her desire to be the most dangerous warrior in the universe.

Xivu Arath has a complex relationship with her now-fallen siblings. There is a constant threat of Taken and Hive, and perhaps as the God of War, Xivu Arath will seek to claim these armies for herself. She already laid siege to the Cabal homeworld, and many fans wonder when Xivu Arath will be seen in the flesh, as she is the last piece of the Darkness puzzle.

The Traveler works on a will of its own, as confusing as that is to Guardians. The Traveler has brought many civilizations to paradise, only to abandon them when they needed the Traveler the most, such as the Eliksni people. The Traveler does not speak, it lies dormant on Earth, with no Speaker to talk of its grand scheme and will.

Considering that the Witness has entered the Traveler, it's only a matter of time before Guardians learn more about the entity that gave them life, but also enslaved them to serve the Light. The Traveler has created doubt in its intentions, and hopefully, players will have answers soon. Is the Traveler all good, or all-powerful?

The Witch Queen thrives off of deception and cunning, so it's no surprise that many questions still lie in the wake of Savathûn's death. Although Savathûn may have been killed by Guardians, she is by no means finished with the story. Her ghost, Immaru, is still alive, inevitably waiting to find a way to resurrect Savathûn and bring back the Witch Queen.

Savathûn is important in the story for many reasons. Not only did she deceive the Witness and battle its Disciples, but she also has a strange relationship with the Traveler. Savathûn knows more than she lets on, perhaps even the best strand weapons. She has a lot to answer for. That is if she ever gets resurrected again.

First introduced as the Exo Stranger, Elsie Bray has come to trust the Guardians in Destiny 2. She has made her goals clear: she wants to save her sister, Ana Brey, from being corrupted by the Darkness. Elsie resides in a time loop, which sees her reliving the same events, over-and-over, until she can find a way to break the loop and see victory.

At the current loop, Elsie has made more progress than ever before, as she has befriended the Guardians. Elsie may know the potential future, and she hopes that with allies, it can change for the better. Hopefully, audiences will get to see if Elsie can break the loop, and forge her destiny. Pun intended.

The Vanguard have been at odds for a while now. Ever since the tragic death of Cayde-6, the Vanguard have mistrusted each other and lacked a shared vision. The Hunter Vanguard has still not been replaced, with Zavala doubting the Traveler over its constant misunderstood actions, like giving Savathûn the Light.

Meanwhile, Ikora dedicates her time to the Hidden, a group that she uses for covert missions and intelligence. With the Traveler potentially gone, and the Vanguard on its last legs, will Guardians see a new faction emerge, or will the Vanguard come out stronger than ever?

There's a conflict in powers in Destiny 2. Players were gifted the powers of the Traveler through their subclasses of Arc, Solar, and Void. Yet, as the Witness made itself known, they were also given the powers of Darkness with Stasis and Strand. There's a clear conflict in these powers, and perhaps the allegiance of Guardians. Do they seek more Darkness powers, or uphold the light?

There have been morally corrupt Guardians in the past, and perhaps the most interesting and grey character is that of the Drifter. With the Light and Darkness saga coming to a close, it would be interesting to see if there is a conflict between the Guardians that wield the Light and those that wield the Dark.

If players have been around since the first Destiny game, then their Guardian has been through a vast amount of wars and battles. For some players, they have killed Oryx, avenged Cayde-6, become an Iron Lord, and won the Red War, with far more titles to be remembered. Yet, it begs the question of just how important our specific Guardian is, and if they alone will be responsible for what comes next in Destiny.

Each Guardian is unique, with some dedicating themselves to Trials of Osiris, others to Vanguard Operations, and the most daring Guardians taking to the Raids. There's a potential future in the Corridors of Time that show the Guardian's funeral, will the Final Shape see this final death of the Guardian, and is this character the Traveler's chosen one?
