Deion Sanders has his work cut out for him in his first season as an FBS head coach.
The new Colorado coach is inheriting a program that managed to win a single game last season, has lost several players to the transfer portal and competes in a top conference.
The biggest obstacle of all for Sanders may be his schedule, which provides all the challenges a first-year head coach could ask for.
In his first month alone, Sanders has to play national runner-up TCU and out-of-conference foes Nebraska and Colorado State before ending with traditional powers Oregon and USC.
Many college football fans acknowledged the tough test Deion will have to endure in his first month.
"1-4 is the BEST CASE scenario for them here," one fan said. With one win, Sanders will already be on par with Colorado's previous coaching staff from last season.
"Everyone realizes they're gonna go 3-9, right?," another fan asked. Colorado hasn't won six games in a season since 2016, when they went 10-4.
"Won't be the HC at Colorado for the 2024 season," another fan predicted.
Given the fanfare and renewed interest that Sanders has brought to the Colorado program, it would be difficult to see them cutting ties with him after one poor season, but stranger things have happened in the world of college football.
Sanders will be looking to prove the doubters wrong when he makes his official debut later this year.
