Harry Redknapp has picked Brighton defender Pervis Estupinan in his Premier League team of the season.

The 25-year-old, who signed for the Seagulls for £15million from Villarreal last summer, has proven to be one of the best left-backs in the Premier League this season.

Estupinan made 35 league appearances for the Seagulls, scoring one goal and providing six assists as Brighton qualified for the Europa League group stages by finishing sixth in the table.

The Ecuadorian was a direct replacement in the Brighton team for Marc Cucurella, who left the club in a blockbuster £62million move to Chelsea last summer.

Ten months on from that move, it's clear that the Seagulls have benefitted the most from that deal, with Estupinan by far out-performing Cucurella this season. The Blues full-back has struggled to make an impact in west London in a Chelsea side that has finished with their lowest points tally in Premier League history, ending the campaign in 12th.

Redknapp said it was "fantastic business" from Brighton to complete the deals that saw Cucurella leave and Estupinan come in last summer, with the former Tottenham Hotspur manager clearly impressed by the latter this season.

"Picking one Brighton player was difficult! Caicedo, Mac Allister, [Kaoru] Mitoma, some top performers. I'm going with Pervis Estupinan though," said Redknapp.

"He's been as good as any left-back in the league this season, really impressive considering it's his first year at the club. To sell Cucurella and replace him with this fella whilst making a profit, is fantastic business by the club."

Harry Redknapp's Team of the Year: Emi Martinez (Aston Villa), Kieran Trippier (Newcastle United), Marc Guehi (Crystal Palace), Ben Mee (Brentford), Pervis Estupinan (Brighton), Casemiro (Manchester United), Martin Odegaard (Arsenal), Declan Rice (West Ham), Mohamed Salah (Liverpool), Harry Kane (Tottenham), Erling Haaland (Manchester City).
