Leicester City are in limbo and that casts doubt over the future of captain Jonny Evans at the club.

The centre-back sees his deal at the King Power Stadium expire this summer, but with City now preparing for life in the Championship and with budget cuts needed across the club, he seemed to suggest an offer of a new contract would not come his way.

Evans has been at City for five seasons since joining from West Brom, where he was also relegated. He has been sidelined with injury for most of this season, but did return to play the final three matches.

Sheffield Wednesday boss Darren Moore says Leicester City being in the Championship is now "dawning on" him ahead of next season.

Wednesday were promoted to the Championship after beating Barnsley in the play-off final at Wembley on Monday, Just 24 hours after Leicester were relegated from the Premier League.

In a post-match interview, Moore was asked for his thoughts on the teams - Leicester , Leeds and Southampton - that have dropped down from the Premier League and will be playing against the Owls in the Championship next season. Moore admitted games against those teams will be "big" and "special" for his side.

Leicester City will pocket an estimated £111m for their Premier League relegation campaign, with further cash to come in the form of parachute payments.

With the season over, City are set to receive their split of the Premier League's domestic and overseas TV rights money, shared equally between the 20 clubs, as well as merit payments for their finishing position and facility fees, which are based on how often a side's games are broadcast on UK television.

While official figures have not yet been released, the Daily Mail are estimating that City will receive £111.2m for this season, which ended in relegation back to the Championship.

Leicester City are planning to build their team around midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall next season, after Luton Town were linked with an interest in the City academy graduate.

Dewsbury-Hall spent the 2020-21 season on loan at Luton in the Championship, sweeping most of the Hatters' end of season awards. He played 40 times in all competitions for the club, scoring three goals and providing six assists, and was a fan favourite at Kenilworth Road .

The midfielder returned to City the following season, and made an instant impact on the team when he was given his chance as a second half substitute against Southampton in the Premier League in December 2021 - a game he turned in City's favour.
