A new era is set to begin for the Golden State Warriors, as Bob Myers has announced that he is stepping down as the team's president of basketball operations and general manager in June, confirming the rumors that had been brewing for months.

He will leave the franchise he has steered since 2011 with four championships and two NBA Executive of the Year awards. Furthermore, the Dubs saw their value increase nearly 17 times, thanks largely to Myers' shrewd roster and organization moves.

When owner Joe Lacob and his group bought the franchise in 2011, Golden State had been in a state of disarray. Except for the "We Believe" Warriors in the 2006-07 campaign, the team had missed the playoffs since 1994.

Lacob brought in Myers in the 2011 offseason, which immediately transformed the organization. After that point, the team made seven consecutive trips to the playoffs. The former sports agent built the team around Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green and helped establish a system with coach Steve Kerr that maximized the stars' skill sets.

Then in the 2016 offseason, Myers oversaw the addition of Kevin Durant, which leveled the squad up further.

After a two-year lull, which was brought about by KD leaving and injuries to key players, the Dubs were able to create another winning team. Of course, Myers also played a major role in Golden State's title run in the 2021-22 campaign, adding solid complementary pieces to the core group, including Andrew Wiggins, Jordan Poole, and Gary Payton II.

The moment Myers officially steps down would be a sad day for the Warriors faithful. If it weren't for the 48-year-old basketball executive, it's hard to imagine the Dubs becoming the Association's most valuable franchise and one of the most successful in the past decade.

Steph posted a poignant message to his "friend" after the announcement broke out.

Even Durant, who was in Monaco to watch the French League playoffs and apparently to party with Devin Booker, Rick Ross, and Conor McGregor, called Myers.

It's unclear who Lacob will look to sign to succeed Myers. Whoever that is will certainly have big shoes to fill. But with some of the crucial pieces, such as Curry and Kerr, already in place, the Warriors will still likely be in good hands - at least for the next few years.
