When Alisha presented her passport to check in at the airport in Istanbul, the agents behind the desk were hesitant to let her through thinking she was using a different person's passport

A traveller was 'humbled' after she almost wasn't let on her flight because she didn't look anything like her passport photo.

Alisha Marie's very casual no-makeup look bore little resemblance to her glamorous passport picture - so much so the agent didn't believe it was the same person.

The 30-year-old laughed as she warned others to think twice before putting on too much makeup when getting their passport photo taken.

Alisha, from LA, sported a baggy black jacket with a bare face and her hair up and pulled back under a black cap to catch her flight.

However, in the beauty blogger's passport photo she had a fringe, styled hair and a face full of makeup.

When Alisha presented her passport to check in at the airport in Istanbul, the agents behind the desk were hesitant to let her through thinking she was using another person's passport.

In late 2022, a trend took TikTok by storm that saw women share their makeup tips for achieving the most flattering passport photo.

Beauty lovers used makeup to give themselves strong browns, contoured cheek bones, foxy eyes and flawless skin however Alisha learned the hard way what kind of problems the craze could cause.

'They almost didn't let me on my flight because they said I didn't look like my passport video,' she said in an online video as she laughed in shock.

'This is why you should never do hot photos for your passport because I don't look like this,' the beauty influencer warned as she revealed her glam passport picture.

There are no restrictions when it comes to wearing makeup in a passport photo however SkyScanner Australia recommends going for the most natural look possible.

'I've never been SO HUMBLED IN MY LIFE,' Alisha captioned the clip posted to her popular social media channels.

The video quickly amassed more than 8.4million views across Instagram and TikTok and left thousands in the comments reeling.

'I would have never showed my face at that airport again,' one woman joked.

'New fear unlocked,' a second said and a third added: 'I'm glad I have a bad passport photo now'.

'At first I regretted not getting a good passport photo. But it will look like me when I'm travelling at 7am,' someone else agreed.

'Definitely do not need to glam for my passport photo because I always look like hot garbage when travelling,' laughed another.

If you intend on wearing makeup in your passport photo, it's recommend that you apply it as close to your normal style as possible, or as natural as possible, so the photo is a fair representation of you when you travel.

You don't want to be stopped at a border because passport control don't recognise you.
