Military personnel killed in battle should get a monthlong celebration, not 'Pride'

Our country's core values are slowly being replaced by the latest radical left-wing social justice causes. Every day our country seems to be on the brink of cultural destruction, facilitated by an erosion of common sense. Consider the recent Memorial Day holiday that just passed and how, as a country, we take for granted and do not truly appreciate those who died so that we may live. Look no further than the difference in the length of celebration we set aside for those who perished in battle compared to the upcoming so-called "Pride" month in June.

If, as a country, we feel compelled to celebrate people's sexual preferences, a topic that really should be discussed in private, why should it get one month while the people who gave their lives defending this country only get one day? There's a gross societal imbalance of appreciation here. Quite frankly, the time frame set aside for each should be reversed.

Furthermore, where's the display in Target honoring those who sacrificed their lives in battle? Where is the North Face merchandise for soldiers killed in action? Where's the Bud Light promotional bottle featuring pictures of military heroes slain in battle, such as Sergeant William Maud Bryant? Why aren't these corporations giving soldiers who sacrificed their lives protecting the country the same adulation as they do for being LGBTQ? Why is there a special swimsuit for people such as Lia Thomas but no clothing items honoring heroes like Gunnery Sergeant John Basilone?

Consider the facts. If not for the heroes who died defending our country and preserving our republic, rights, and liberties, there's a good chance the so-called "Pride" month wouldn't even exist. We should have a longer annual celebration for their sacrifices rather than a monthlong celebration predicated on what some people want to do in the bedroom.

These are realities that many LGBT supporters and others on the Left will likely ignore and dismiss. And proponents of the so-called "Pride" month will try to justify it as a cultural necessity to promote tolerance and acceptance and compensate for previous years of marginalization and discrimination. However, as difficult as being marginalized and discriminated against might be, it's not worse than losing one's life in battle. Any person discriminated against still has tomorrow; any person killed in war does not.

If members of the LGBTQ community, or anyone, want to celebrate the LGBTQ community, they should do so. I have no objection to any of this. This is the United States, and everyone should be free to participate in this if they wish. But is there any reason celebrating people being LGBTQ should be 30 times longer than the celebration for someone who died defending the country and saved other people's lives? Methinks not.

Without question, being killed in battle while voluntarily defending the country is more worthy of a monthlong celebration than those who merely want to celebrate their sexual identities. It's purely illogical to think otherwise. As a social media graphic that was widely circulated this weekend suggested, there's no reason people returning in flag-draped coffins should get only one day of commemoration while those who are proud of their sexual orientation and identity should get an entire month.
