The final pair of possessions in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals contained enough dubious officiating to put fans of each team on edge.
In a play resulting in three free throws, many Celtics fans thought Jimmy Butler got away with a double-dribble. And subsequently, the officials' handling of the game clock left Heat fans baffled.
And for those fans, tonight's choice of officials will only intensify their worries.
The game, set to tip off at 8:30pm ET tonight, will feature Scott Foster and Tony Brothers on the floor. In addition to each bearing the unfortunate reputation of over-officiating at times, the Heat have suffered particularly grim fates with each official.
"The Heat were a combined 0-10 in games reffed by Tony Brothers and Scott Foster during the regular season. The Celtics were 7-2," the Twitter account Ball Don't Lie posted.
Elsewhere, fans lamented the prominent role these officials will take in the all-important Game 7.
"Scott Foster, Tony Brothers and Jon Goble. Generational lineup. We're about to see new rules invented on the spot," one fan tweeted.
Game 7 will feature high drama as the Celtics seek to achieve a comeback from a 3-0 series deficit. Let's just hope the officials don't play an excessive part in tonight's outcome.
