I have seen some blueberry salsa recipes that call for red bell pepper or onion. While those recipes are delicious I love the full fruit flavors of this blueberry salsa with the kick of jalapeno, cilantro and lime. The flavors pair nicely together.

This salsa is perfect for your blender or food processor. Just pulse the ingredients a few times until you achieve the consistency you desire. I would not turn the blender or food processor fully on as it might getaway from you and you might end up with a soup. If you DO want a cold fruit soup recipe I would suggest my strawberry soup.

If you don't have a food processor or blender, or in my case they are both in the dishwasher, don't worry. Just pull out a cutting board and a chef knife and chop away! It will take a few extra minutes but hand chopping your salsa is another way of achieving a delicious side dish.

I like to make this salsa about an hour before I serve it. I would not advise making it more than 8 hours ahead as the salt will start to break down the berries and make them liquid.

I am a fan of serving this blueberry salsa with tortilla chips. If you can find the one with a hint of lime, that would be delicious. Another sweet option is to serve them with cinnamon tortilla chips. This salsa is so good with sous vide sea bass for a lighter, fresher accompaniment than the tomatoes I normally serve. it would also be good on pancakes or waffles if you like a little heat with your sweet in the morning.
