South African boxer Ludumo Lamati is still under sedation in hospital after collapsing following his defeat to Nick Ball.

Lamati was stopped in the 12th and final round at the SSE Arena in Belfast on Saturday night on the Michael Conlan-Lopez card.

The main even was pushed back after 31-year-old Lamati collapsed in the corner.

He was stretchered out of the ring and taken to hospital in Belfast, where he remains.

A statement read: "On Sat 27th May Ludumo Lamati was taken to

the Belfast hospital. On arrival, numerous tests and scans were carried out.

"He is currently under hospital care and the latest feedback from the medical team, this morning, is that his vital signs are stable.

"We will provide further updates as soon as they become available. Please keep him in your prayers."

On Monday a further update revealed that he is still under sedation.

"Ludumo is still being closely being monitored and taken care of by the excellent doctors in Belfast," a statement read.

"His vital signs are stable and we are hoping that they will slowly stop the sedation from tomorrow onwards. This is a process that takes time and healing.

"Please continue to send positive thoughts and prayers."

Lamati, a former IBO super-bantamweight champion, came into the bout with a record of 20 wins and one draw but was well beaten by unbeaten Liverpool fighter Ball.

And after the win, the featherweight contender said: "The main thing is his health, because as I say, this boxing is no joke. So I hope he's alright."

Frank Warren's Queensberry Promotion, who put on the fight, also tweeted out in support of Lamati.

A post read: "All of our thoughts are with Ludumo Lamati."
