Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will swing into theaters next month after years of anticipation. To the disappointment of many fans, Spider-Man Noir won't be hanging onto the web. However, Christopher Miller and Phil Lord, who developed the Spider-Verse, have confirmed that a live-action television series based on the character is still in the works.

The filmmaking duo made this revelation during a recent interview with Collider about Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.

When Steven Weintraub, the duo's interviewer, quizzed them about the project, Lord responded with a simple "Yes." Miller, on the other hand, provided more information on its status. He stated, "It was [in development] until the writers' strike and everything shut down. But once that gets resolved, we'll get back into it. But it's coming along nicely."

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, the first film of the animated Spider-Verse, saw the protagonist, Miles Morales, take on Wilson Fisk aka Kingpin. However, to defeat him, he needed the help of other Spider-Men from across the multiverse.

Enter Spider-Man Noir - a version of the character from the 1930s portrayed by Nicolas Cage. Together with Peni Parker, Peter B. Parker, and Spider-Ham, they help Morales master his newly acquired Spidey powers, defeat Kingpin, and bring him to justice.

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse was a resounding success critically and commercially. However, the fans especially loved Spider-Man Noir and how Nicolas Cage brought it to life on the big screen. So, it was to everybody's delight when Sony announced it was developing a live-action television series based on the character not long after.

Weintraub and the guys at Collider asked Lord and Miller if there was any chance we will see the Academy Award winner reprise the role but the producing duo refused to answer the question conclusively. However, Lord couldn't resist the opportunity to tease fans as he commented, "There is any chance."

As for Across the Spider-Verse, one of the film's directors, Thompson, confirmed earlier this week that it is finished and ready to go.

With a runtime of 2 hours and 20 minutes, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is the second-longest Western animated film ever. However, we are sure the fans won't mind, especially if it is anywhere as interesting as the first film was.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will arrive in theaters on June 2. A third installment, titled Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, will follow on March 29, 2024.
