Strawberry granita in a glass with strawberries on the table.

Turning fresh fruit into tasty frozen desserts is quickly becoming a favorite hobby of mine. This strawberry lime granita is easy to make and incredibly refreshing during these hot summer days.

Since the watermelon lime granita was such a hit, let's give it a try with fresh strawberries. This recipe only calls for a few simple ingredients, and it's quite easy to make.

We've had some blazing hot days this year which only increases my love for icy and slushy desserts. I've also been trying to hit up as many farmer's markets as possible this year, which leaves us with a lot of fresh fruits and veggies.

In an effort to never waste fruit, it's a great time to experiment with fresh berry desserts. Homemade popsicles, slushies, ice creams, and shakes are our jam over here, so why not throw icy granitas into the mix?

Serve up your granitas in fun glasses to enjoy poolside with friends, or just grab the container after a long day of yard work. That's certainly been done here, and it's perfectly acceptable behavior!

Here's what you need to make this frozen dessert. The measurements are in the recipe card below.

Wash and cut the tops off of your fresh strawberries and zest and juice your lime.

Put the strawberries in a blender with the maple syrup, coconut water, lime zest, and lime juice.

Blend all the ingredients until they are smooth.

Pour the mixture into a shallow baking dish.

Place the container into the freezer.

Stir the mixture every 20 minutes with a fork. Do this for 3 hours or until it's a frozen slushy consistency.

Scoop the granita into serving glasses and serve immediately.

Sorbets are made in a machine and churned to eliminate ice crystals. With a granita, you want the ice crystals, so only a fork is used during the freezing process.

Yes, you can use honey in place of maple syrup. Agave is another option. The flavor may differ slightly, but either should be fine.

Turn your fresh strawberries into an icy and refreshing frozen treat. This granita recipe is easy to make and delicious on hot summer days.
